“Good teaching is 1/4 preparation and 3/4 theatre.”
– Gail Godwin

  • My students will be treated with respect at all times.
  • My students will be seen as individuals, and I will provide the best resources to each individual based on their needs so he or she will succeed each day in my classroom.
  • I believe students learn best when the content they are learning is relevant to them; my lessons will be based on current events and aspects of their lives as often as possible in order to engage them.
  • I believe all students deserve a hands-on approach to learning rather than being passive learners.
  • I believe in the importance of reflection and adaptation. I constantly review lessons as I’m teaching and afterward to make adjustments to better serve my students.
  • I believe in being over prepared. Some lessons will not work out the way I plan, but that does not mean we stop learning. Additional activities are always available to keep the learning going.
  • I believe classroom management is key to a successful classroom; therefore, I value implementing procedures and routines for tasks.
  • I believe in supporting my students in and out of the classroom. I value extra-curricular activities and do my best to attend them when my students are participating.
  • I value teamwork and look to assist my fellow faculty and staff members in any way I can.
  • I value incorporating other disciplines into my lessons as often as I can to help students get extra practice with topics in other disciplines, such as math.
  • I believe in incorporating the parents and the community into lessons through activities and experiences.
  • I believe a student learns best in a safe and inviting environment. I encourage students to attempt something without fear of ridicule for mistakes, and I make the classroom environment as inviting as possible.
